Shopping with Abby for her dress for the daddy/daughter dance was so much fun and I can’t wait until I get to take her fancy dress shopping again. Remembering all the fun we had makes me think of all my friends and fellow mommies who are getting ready (if not already started) to go shopping for a really important dress… a prom dress!
While I’m not dealing with Prom age just yet (thank goodness!), I have lots of mommy friends who have already started talking about the search for the perfect dress. One thing causing major headaches this year? All this winter weather! All the snow and ice makes getting out to do shopping a little impossible.
That’s why I’m thrilled to share an awesome website with them: www.jenjenhouse.com
I recently found out about www.jenjenhouse.com and immediately fell in love with some of the dresses offered. After spending the day listening to friends and their daughters talk about prom dresses, I decided to see what all JenJenHouse offered. The selection of dresses is absolutely amazing. Long, short, strapless, halter, princess, sparkles, seriously there is a style to fit anyone’s personality and taste. I remember all too well the importance of having the “perfect” dress for prom, one that not only fit my personality but fit me perfectly and was just right for dancing the night away.
Even though I have many, many years before Abby and I will be doing any prom dress shopping, I had fun looking at all the pretty dresses with her. Here are a few favorites:
In no way did we come close to looking at all the dresses, I believe there were over 1,000! But we did have fun, Abby called all the girls princesses and she had very strong opinions about the dresses. Oh my, I’m in trouble when she gets older!
Something that caught my eye and just really stood out to me was the “Tailoring Time” listed on the dress pages right beside “Shipping Time”. The dresses are Made-to-Order! Whether you choose a standard size or custom measurements, the tailors craft each dress to order. By selecting “Custom Size”, your dress will be personally tailored for your exact fit. That is something that you don’t often see when shopping for a dress online! Usually you order your size and hope it fits when it arrives, if it doesn’t then you have to get it tailored to fit. JenJenHouse eliminates all that extra work and offers custom sizes right from the moment you order! I know this will be a huge plus for some who aren’t “standard” size (like me).
Another huge plus? Several of the dresses came in a wide variety of colors. Sure, some were limited to just one color but others gave you the option of choosing the color you like best. I particularly loved this because I often came across one I loved the look of but wasn’t sure about the color pictured. All the different colors really gives you more shopping options.
Something that really helped me was being able to narrow down the selection to what we really like. I could choose Silhouette, Neckline, Train, Embellishment, Fabric, Sleeve, basically every little detail of the dress to help me find exactly what I was looking for. It definitely helped keep be from being overwhelmed by the large number of dresses that first popped up. Narrowing it down to my preferences helped me quickly find styles I really liked (or that Abby loved and we definitely disagree in some areas!).
And after you find the perfect dress, you can shop for the perfect accessories! All while in the comfort of the nice warm house. I know part of the fun is going and trying on dresses but sometimes travel is limited. Besides, if memory serves me correctly, places to go and find a dress have really gotten limited. At least around here. Selections are slim, you’re forced to choose between just a handful of styles in very few colors because that is all the stores offer. Why limit yourself?! This is PROM! This is the time to stand out, be unique and show off YOUR perfect dress, not limit yourself to “all I could find at the store”.
I am definitely going to let all my mom friends know about JenJenHouse so they help their daughters shop for the perfect prom dress!
And for those of you wondering, this one was Abby’s final choice. She told me it was her princess dress!
